We're in Egypt
We're in Egypt with Bates' brother, Shore. We've been to Cairo, seen the pyramids in Giza and the surrounding area, seen Coptic Cairo, and visited Al-Azhar Park. We're now in Aswan in the south, heading to Luxor later today. I'll try to upload some pictures to Picassa later.

No More Bug
Dear friends and former friends of Bug,
We have arrived safely in Damascus and thus begins our year without the Dachshund. The Bug has been successfully passed off to the Barleys in Orlando. For driving directions, please contact Mrs. B, who has agreed to meet his demand of 9 AM - 5 PM visiting hours.
In the meantime, Mrs. B reports that Bug has been busy hunting lizards (without success) and playing with his new neighbor, Duke, the 8lb Pug.
As for us, we've had two delightfully slow days in Damascus. Yesterday was the last day of Ramadan and today is the feast, so shops are just re-opening.
We're now in the first Internet cafe we've seen and we successfully Skyped with Bates' parents and grandparents. If any of you have Skype accounts, send us your Skype names.
